wide open spaces...

after several winding gravel roads we arrived at chelsea and chris's wedding location, and all i could think of was, "wow there is nothing out here but wheat fields for miles... and miles... and miles." it was so quiet and peaceful. before long a string of lyrics started filtering through my head and brought a smile to my face...

I said I wanna touch the earth I wanna break it in my hands
I wanna grow something wild and unruly
I wanna sleep on the hard ground in the comfort of your arms
On a pillow of blue bonnets in a blanket made of stars

I wanna walk and not run, I wanna skip and not fall
I wanna look at the horizen, and not see a building standing tall
I wanna be the only one, for miles and miles
Except for maybe you, and your simple smile

the title of this song may be "cowboy take me away," but in this situation we need to change the single word "cowboy" to "cowgirl." chelsea and chris were attending big bend community college when they first met. chelsea said it was love at first sight for chris, and who could blame the big city boy for falling for chelsea's country girl charm. before long chris found himself horseback ridding and appreciating wide open spaces.

chelsea and chris said "i do" on chelsea's grandparents ranch, and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful. we even got the chance to use chelsea's grandfather's old school house in a couple pictures... i thought that was so cool! thank you chelsea and chris for letting us be a part of your wonderful day!

chelsea and chris chose to do a "first look" before pictures, and chelsea is the type to laugh when she's embarrassed... it's so freaking adorable!! the first look is something i recommend to all my couples. it gives you a moment to enjoy each other, and the opportunity for formal pictures to be taken before the wedding so you can enjoy the festivities and guests following the ceremony.
as a side note: chris is a flight instructor, and chelsea said he was obsessed with any type of airplane...
not sure if that includes paper airplanes, but we made a couple planes out of maps of their hometowns and couldn't resist using them in a couple pictures... we enjoy using fun details like this in photos!

i could have done another blog post on how awesome i thought it was that all the girls wore different pairs
of cowboy boots! they decided this the day of the wedding, and i thought it was amazing! l.o.v.e.!
the best man, and his "i lost the ring" trick...
